To have a Love of Stories and Rhymes

We support all children have a love of stories and rhymes.

Through many activities as well as participation in the annual world nursery rhyme week activities, our children have developed a wide repertoire of rhymes and favourite stories.

According to the world nursery rhyme week website; “Nursery rhymes and children’s songs boost vocabulary and language development, develop literacy skills, support early numeracy skills and help children to develop social, physical and emotional skills.” (2026).

World Book Day’s annual vision is for “more children, from all backgrounds, developing a life-long habit of reading for pleasure, benefiting from the improved life chances this brings them.” (2023-2027).

To support our curriculum aspirations of children having a love of stories and rhymes, we have most recently rolled out a ‘little learners lending library’ to enable all our families and children have easy access to books.
